A roadworks may have consequences on both the general mobility of emergency services and the accessibility of emergency vehicles to buildings adjacent to the roadworks.

In what case should you request an opinion?

Article 35 of the BCRAD of April 4, 2019, regarding road works, regulates the files for which an opinion from the Fire Service is required.

In addition to the conditions mentioned in Article 35, there are other points of attention/recommendations that the person responsible for the site must take into account when requesting an opinion.

Emergency vehicles: what constraints?

To understand the accessibility conditions stated in the regulations, it is necessary to understand the technical characteristics of emergency vehicles. Indeed, the ladder truck, the most restrictive emergency vehicle, is taken as a reference for the regulations. For more information on the characteristics of the ladder truck, click here.
